Sharp See Through Solar Panels

Electronic giant sharp has confirmed that they would commercially release these see through solar panels from the 31st july of this year.

The company unveiled a transparent solar panel that can be mounted on balcony railings or. Japanese electronics manufacturer sharp has developed the worlds first see through solar panel. The see through solar panels are just 9 5mm thick weigh 33kg and will be commercially available in sizes up 1 4 by 1 0 meters. Sharp solar panels offer a 10 year product warranty and 25 year power output and are backed by sharp s long standing reputation.

Sharp recently announced a break through in home solar technology that could begin to answer that question. The product certainly hints to a greater green potential where our conventional windows wall facades and even door awnings can be replaced by transparent solar panels. Each panel will have a maximum output of 95w and a conversion efficiency of around 6 8. The solar panel generates energy using modified photovoltaic technology but due to the unique design light can partially pass through allowing it to be used as a window.

Despite the obvious architectural applications there unfortunately has to be a bit of a trade off.
